2D Artist / AI Artist

An international independent game studio is looking for a 2D Artist / AI Artist to work across game art, marketing content, and R&D.
The studio has been developing games for over 10 years and has released five titles. The team is currently supporting a live game, developing a new project in pre-production, and exploring new ideas and visual directions.
The main focus is 2D fantasy games with casual and midcore aesthetics. We are looking for a versatile artist with strong artistic foundations who actively uses AI tools, adapts to different styles, and delivers finished, production-ready assets.

Responsibilities

  • Create marketing visuals, promotional artwork, and creative variations using AI tools.
  • Develop concepts for characters, environments, props, and backgrounds.
  • Produce consistent 2D game assets in established art styles.
  • Refine AI-generated content through paintovers, compositing, cleanup, and technical adjustments.
  • Prepare assets for animation by separating layers, reconstructing hidden elements, and organizing source files.
  • Create seamless tile assets.
  • Edit videos, animate still images, and produce content for game and marketing needs.
  • Explore new AI tools and visual directions for R&D projects.
  • Collaborate with the Art Director, marketing team, and developers.
  • Independently manage tasks and take ownership of the final result.

Requirements

  • Experience creating 2D art for game products across multiple styles.
  • A strong, up-to-date portfolio featuring finished work and clearly showing your contribution.
  • Practical production experience with AI image and video generation tools.
  • Strong artistic foundations in composition, color, lighting, and form.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or an equivalent editor, including paintovers and compositing.
  • Practical skills in video editing and animation.
  • Understanding of asset preparation requirements: layers, transparency, resolution, file formats, and export settings.
  • Ability to combine tools into reliable workflows and maintain visual consistency across assets.
  • Adaptability, initiative, fast learning, and the ability to work independently and respond constructively to feedback.
  • English at A2–B1 level.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with fantasy games and casual or midcore aesthetics.
  • Formal art education.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, lighting, rendering, or using 3D in a 2D art workflow.
  • Experience preparing assets for skeletal animation.
  • Experience building reusable AI workflows and automating routine tasks.
  • Familiarity with game engine requirements and technical limitations.

What We Offer

  • Remote work.
  • An annual performance bonus.
  • An annual learning and professional development budget.
  • 25 paid vacation days per year.
  • A small international team with direct access to the Art Director.
  • A broad range of creative tasks across game art, marketing, video, and R&D.
  • The opportunity to shape how AI tools are used in the studio’s art production.
