The authors of Pokémon GO are working on their own AR glasses
Niantic, known for the Pokémon GO game, continues to invest in augmented reality technology. The studio showed an image of its AR-glasses, but the timing of the release of the device is still unknown.The image was shared on Twitter by Niantic CEO John Hanke.
“It’s nice to see the progress we’ve made in creating new types of devices for our platform,” he wrote.
Hanke did not disclose details about the device. TechCrunch suggests that these are AR glasses that will have camera functions and built-in audio.

In 2019, the company teamed up with Qualcomm to develop a 5G-enabled headset for their XR platform. Then the developers of Pokémon GO talked about the fact that we are talking about a long-term cooperation.
Last week it became known that Nintendo signed a deal with Niantic to develop augmented reality games for the company’s franchises. The first project will be an AR adaptation of the Pikmin puzzle series.
Niantic is also currently looking for a head of operating system development for AR devices.
