There is no backward compatibility with Oculus Go in Oculus Quest 2
The new Oculus Quest 2 VR headset does not support games for Oculus Go. We are talking about 66 titles, some of which were significant for the platform. For example, Land’s End from Ustwo Games.
Former Oculus technical director John Carmack wrote about this on Twitter. Carmack defended backward compatibility, but they didn’t listen to him.
Oculus Go was released in 2018. By the end of 2019 , 84 thousand copies were sold — more than the Oculus Rift S in the same time . However, this summer Facebook announced the termination of support and production of the headset.
At the same time, Oculus Go games remained available for purchase or download to users of other Facebook devices. They could do this through a separate tab in the store. There is no such tab in the store version for Oculus Quest 2, as well as compatibility in general.
However, some titles for Oculus Go received separate versions for Quest. Among them are Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and Republique VR. However, most of the other games, including They Suspect Nothing, Daedalus and Land’s End, will be lost to the VR community.
Oculus Quest 2 has been on sale worldwide since October 13. Russian players will be able to buy this headset only in a couple of weeks.
