94% of Google Play revenue in South Korea comes from games

Amazing Korea. Here, user spending on Google Play games is not 70-80%, but as much as 94.4%. Such data was provided by the local analytical company WiseApp.

At the moment , the top five most popular games in the store for Korea are as follows:

  1. Lineage M (NCSoft);
  2. Black Desert Mobile (Pearl Abyss);
  3. Mu Origin 2 (Webzen);
  4. Three Kingdoms M (Efun Company);
  5. Lineage 2: Revolution (Netmarble Games).

As for other sources of Google Play revenue, 2.2% come from messengers, 1.7% from social networks, 0.5% from dating apps and 1.3% from all other apps:

WiseApp’s estimate is based on an analysis of the spending of 23,000 Android users in the period from May 1 to May 31.
Android in South Korea is the most popular mobile platform, it is used by more than 90% of all residents of the country.

Recall that this spring, the Korean government’s Fair Trade Commission launched an investigation into Google. The company is accused of forcing local developers to sell their games only through its store.
