Warner Bros. Games Montreal has reduced its workforce by 99 positions
Warner Games Montreal has dismissed close to 100 of its staff members.
According to Radio-Canada (acknowledgments to Game Developer), the layoffs occurred on the same day Rocksteady Studios announced its termination of support for Suicide Squad, less than a year post-launch on December 9. During a video conference, 99 employees at WB Games Montreal were informed they would be losing their jobs, with an eight-week notice given.
The reductions mainly concern subcontractors within the Keywords QA team. The affected individuals were offered the choice to either be placed on a recall list—which reportedly wouldn't materialize until 2026—or consult with a specialist for assistance in finding new employment.
An anonymous individual revealed to Radio-Canada, "I feel stressed and depressed. I feel like the company just ruined 99 lives."
The unsettling news came despite assurances at a summer biannual meeting that no layoffs were forthcoming, with management indicating there was ample work available.
Up to this moment, neither WB Games Montreal nor Keywords have issued any statements regarding the dismissals.
