Garena games have reached a quarterly active audience of 729 million people
The number of users in Garena games is growing rapidly. In the third quarter of 2021, the total active audience of the projects of this Singapore company reached 729 million people.
This was announced in the quarterly report by the technology giant Sea, a division of which is Garena.
For comparison, at the same time last year, there were 572.4 million active users in Garena games. This is 27.4% less than now.
At the same time, a total of 93.2 million people spent money on Garena games for the period from July to September 2021. Growth by 42.7% in annual terms. The company did not make a breakdown by specific games, but indicated that in three months it received a total of $ 1.2 billion in revenue (roughly speaking, users have already left so much money in the company’s games, but this amount has not yet come to the developer’s account).
It is important to note: formally, these figures apply to all Garena projects. Including those versions of Call of Duty and Honor of Kings, which the company publishes in Southeast Asia. However, since Free Fire is the most famous game in the portfolio, it can be assumed that a significant share of the active and paying audiences belong to it.
Now Free Fire is considered the highest-grossing mobile game in Southeast Asia, Latin America and India. Moreover, the title holds this title for the fourth quarter in a row (and if you remove India from the statistics, it is the ninth quarter in a row). According to AppMagic, in the top markets in these regions, Free Fire earned $109.2 million in the third quarter of 2021. This is more than half of the total revenue of the title — $ 209.5 million for July-September.
Recall that Free Fire was released in August 2017. It regularly gets into the ranking of the highest-grossing mobile games in the world. In addition, in the first half of 2021, the project became the most downloaded mobile battle royale, collecting 104.5 million downloads. During the third quarter, Free Fire was downloaded another 52.5 million times.
At the end of September, Garena released an expanded version of Free Fire — Free Fire MAX. In less than a month, the game has collected 16 million downloads and $ 2.4 million in revenue. Free Fire MAX also received more than half of its revenue in Southeast Asia, Latin America and India – $1.5 million.
