Blizzard veterans together with Tencent launched Uncapped Games Studio

China’s Tencent has grown by another studio. Its subsidiary Lightspeed and Quantum Studios Group, which is developing the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile, has announced the launch of an American division — Uncapped Games Studios. It was headed by people from Blizzard.

StarCraft II

The lead producer of Uncapped Games Studios was Jason Hughes, and the lead game designer was David Kim.

Both participated in the development of Diablo IV. Hughes also managed to work with Diablo III, and Kim was engaged in StarCraft II.

Zhongshan Zhang, who used to work not only at Blizzard, but also at Ubisoft, joined the studio as a lead engineer.

Besides them, there are five other people in the studio. By the end of the year, they want to expand the staff to 20 employees. The further number of employees will depend on the complexity of the games and the timing of their implementation.

Uncapped Games Studios is located in Los Angeles. Her debut project will be RTS for PC. Not much is known about the game, but according to Kim, it will be “a very dynamic game with an incredibly low entry threshold.”

Recall that recently, news has been increasingly appearing that former Blizzard employees are opening their own studios. For example, last October, other authors of StarCraft II and WarCraft III founded Frost Giant Studios, which also develops real-time strategies.
