Unopened Super Mario Bros. cartridge sold for a record $660 thousand
A rare cartridge from one of the first versions of Super Mario Bros. it was sold at auction for $ 660 thousand. The box has lain unopened for almost 35 years. Now it’s the most expensive copy of a video game in history.This was reported on the Twitter account of the Heritage Auctions auction.
The sealed cartridge box received 9.6 points and an A+ rating from Wata, which evaluates the quality and packaging of collectible games.
According to the Heritage Auctions website, this is the fourth version of Super Mario Bros., which was released in 1986. The auctioned copy was bought a year ago as a Christmas gift. According to the Associated Press, as a result, the box was forgotten in a drawer, where it lay until the beginning of 2021.
