Electronic Arts buys Glu Mobile for $2.4 billion

The gaming market continues to consolidate. Electronic Arts becomes the owner of Glu Mobile. The business was valued at $2.1 billion. However, the company accounts for $364 million. So the whole deal will cost electronics $2.4 billion.

 After that, the unification starts. Under what conditions it will be carried out, it is not reported. Most likely, Glu Mobile will not retain its autonomy and will work within the Electronic Arts business structure. Its 800 employees, including 500 developers, will significantly increase the mobile division of the buyer.

“The merger of the two companies creates a leading mobile product portfolio, which includes more than 15 top online services, whose earnings, including deferred payments, amounted to $1.32 billion,” a press release announcing the deal says.

Under the wing of Electronic Arts, earning in mobile on Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, FIFA Soccer, Madden NFL, SimCity, The Sims and Need for Speed, such box office hits as Design Home, Covet Fashion, MLB Tap Sports Baseball and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood will fall (each of them earned only on IAP more than $3 million in the last month). This is not to mention the Cooking Dash and Deer Hunter series.

It also mentions that now the total number of players Electronic Arts will make 430 million, including a monthly mobile audience of 100 million.

By the way, just yesterday, February 8, Glu Mobile reported for the fiscal year. In twelve months, she earned $540.5 million (an increase of almost 30%). The profit amounted to $20.4 million.
