Studio with Ukrainian roots Gunzilla Games raised $ 25 million for the development of AAA projects
Gunzilla Games, a game studio with Ukrainian roots, has raised $25 million to develop AAA projects. The first game of the company will be a shooter, one of the writers of which is the author of “Modified Carbon”.The launch of Gunzilla Games became known on November 17.
The studio will receive funding from GameGroove holding, which is managed by Vlad Korolev and Alexander Zoll, former CEO of the Kiev branch of Crytek. They are also the founders of Gunzilla Games.
On the one hand, $25 million is a small amount to develop a full—fledged AAA game. On the other hand, the developers claim that the company needs this money to achieve its main goals at the initial stage.
The first project of Gunzilla Games will be an unannounced shooter, in which they promise to pay equally much attention to both gameplay and plot. The game is being developed with an eye on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The script for the project will be written by Richard K. Morgan (Richard K. Morgan), known for the novel “Modified Carbon”, and Oliver Henriot (Olivier Henriot), who worked on the series Assassin’s Creed, The Division and Far Cry.
Korolev also hopes to expand the staff to 200 people by the end of next year. Now the studio employs people from Ubisoft, EA, THQ and other large companies.
At the same time, Gunzilla Games is not going to make mobile games and plans to focus on big-budget shooters. “We believe that by increasing expertise and using this experience in our projects, we will be able to become more successful. AAA games are our expertise,” Korolev said.
