Nintendo asked partners to create games with a view to 4K
Nintendo has not yet officially unveiled the new Switch console, but Bloomberg analysts have already shared insider information. According to the publication, the next Switch is likely to get support for 4K resolution. At the same time, the company increased production of the current console models.
The main thing from the publication:
- Nintendo has increased Switch production volumes again for this fiscal year. Now the goal is 30 million units of the console. This is 5 million copies more than the company requested just a month ago;
- The company explains this by two factors: increased demand during the pandemic and the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Then there were difficulties with the supply chain, and the console disappeared from the shelves of stores. The supply situation has been put in order, but even today the demand for both Switch and title remains as high as ever;
- Another sales driver was the update of the model range last year – Switch Lite appeared;
- Analysts have suggested that the release of next-generation consoles by Sony and Microsoft may cause difficulties for Nintendo, but hardly serious enough. According to Katsuhiko Hayashi, Switch sales will remain strong at the end of the year;
- Nintendo is preparing to launch an updated Switch model in 2021, and with it the launch of a number of titles;
- Several third-party developers anonymously stated that the Japanese asked to make games ready for 4K, assuming that the new model of the console will support this resolution.;
- A Nintendo representative declined to comment.
