The German Games Industry Association regarded this as a signal that for many parties “Germany is becoming an increasingly important player in the global video game market.”

This is reported by Game.de .

Last year, the country’s authorities have already allocated a similar amount to create a fund for game developers. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Communications has already received 380 applications for financing gaming projects. Almost 300 more companies are waiting for the EU to finally adopt the financing directive.

Recall that now game development in Germany is 30% more expensive than in the UK, France and Canada. In these countries, game dev enjoys federal support. The German government parties agreed to help the industry only in 2018.

Let’s add that Germany is the birthplace of such game series as Gothic (Pirahna Bytes) and Crysis (Crytec).
