This happened at the next round of financing.
In Series D, the company raised $200 million. The amount was obtained based on Scopely‘s new estimate of $1.7 billion.
In June last year, when the company received $100 million, it was estimated at a much smaller amount. Then, according to Variety, $700 million was “given” for the developer.
In total, $458 million has been invested in Scopely to date. Recent investors include five venture capital businesses (NewView Capital, Baillie Gifford, Sands Capital Ventures, Greycroft, Revolution) and a Canadian Pension Fund.
Scopely will spend the raised $200 million on the acquisition of gaming companies and IP. The company is not going to limit itself to the mobile market. She is interested in multiplatform products.
For reference: Scopely is successful not only in attracting third-party funds. This summer, the company’s total revenue from all its gaming products reached $1 billion. Its annual revenue is now at $400 million.
The developer successfully earns money on his library of projects as a whole, and not on any one game, as is often the case in the industry. Out of her $100 million revenue portfolio, as many as six projects have achieved: Star Trek Fleet Command, Looney Tunes World of Mayhem, WWE Champions 2019, The Walking Dead: Road To Survival, Yahtzee With Buddies and Wheel of Fortune: Free Play.
