Activision and Tencent launched Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile from Activision Blizzard and Tencent has been released. The game is now available on the App Store and Google Play worldwide, with the exception of mainland China, Vietnam and Belgium.

About business

According to Activision, with the release of the mobile title and the future Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the annual revenue of the series will double. As stated by the CEO of the company Bobby Kotick (Bobby Kotick): “A momentous moment has come for us: we have brought one of the most successful gaming franchises in history to the largest platform.”

Another ambitious goal of the publisher is to “set a new standard for mobile multiplayer action,” according to Chris Plummer, vice president of Activision’s mobile division. He noted that the players at the playtests reacted to the novelty “with extreme delight.”

As for Tencent, despite the fact that Call of Duty Mobile has not been released in China, the game is an opportunity for it to significantly advance abroad. It is also important that now the publisher has a project related to the popular genre of battle royale, not only at home. (In China, such a game for him is Game for Peace.)

How Activision Blizzard and Tencent share the revenue from the new product is still unknown.

About the game

The developer of Call of Duty Mobile was the Chinese TiMi Studios, the “daughter” of Tencent and the author of the mobile hits Honor of Kings and CrossFire: Legends.

Her Call of Duty is a shareware PvP first—person shooter with content from desktop Modern Warfare and Black Ops. The content includes characters, weapons, camouflage, vehicles, not to mention classic maps.

Four game modes are available at the start: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Frontline and Search & Destroy. And starting from the 7th level, the player can participate in the “royal battle” for 100 people. Thus, publishers may be hoping to entice some of the audience of PUBG Mobile and Fortnite.

As in other similar games, seasonal updates are planned in Call of Duty: Mobile. New maps and modes, new items and content for customization will be gradually added to it, VentureBeat reports.
