Call of Duty Mobile will have a "battle royale" mode
Activision decided to support the trend for mobile “royal battles”. In its Call of Duty Mobile, created jointly with Tencent, there will be a battle royale mode.
On its website, Activision talks about the “battle royale” as follows:
- Matches in this mode support up to 100 players. They can survive alone or join teams of two and four people.
- Six classes with unique skills are available for the game.
- Battles take place in locations familiar to players from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
- You can play both from the first and third person (you need to choose the type before the start of the match).
- Under certain conditions, you can revive a fallen ally.
Activision calls the battle royale mode the “second main” in Call of Duty Mobile. The publisher also points out that the game itself is still at an early stage of development and testing. Because of this, some of the information about it may become irrelevant.
The official announcement of Call of Duty Mobile took place within the framework of GDC 2019. At the same time, there were rumors that the “battle royale” would indeed be among the modes.
The game, developed by Timi Studio (Tencent’s “daughter”), was released in December in the Chinese and Australian markets. Open beta testing starts this summer. The global release of Call of Duty Mobile on iOS and Android is expected by the end of this year, according to Pocket Gamer.
