The audience of Apex Legends has overcome the milestone of 10 million players
A new game Respawn Entertainment took only 72 hours to gain an audience of 10 million users. Online “Battle Royale” has reached the mark of 1 million players.
This was announced in a post on the official website of Apex Legends Vince Zampella, CEO of the studio.
“We hoped that you would love the game as much as we do,— Vince writes to the players. “But even in our most fantastic dreams, we couldn’t imagine the kind of support we saw [regarding the game].”
One million one—time users is a very large figure. For comparison, the peak online Dota 2 for all time is 1.2 million, and Counter—Strike: Global Offensive has 800 thousand. However, the game still has a lot to grow. The maximum recorded online at PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is 3.2 million, and at Fortnite — 10 million.
Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment launched Apex Legends without a pre-marketing company on February 4. The game is a mix of a “royal battle” and a heroic shooter. The game is distributed as a free-play project. Its monetization is based mainly on the sale of game skins that do not affect the gameplay.
The game was released simultaneously on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It is also planned to launch a mobile version that will support cross-platform gameplay.
