Tencent and NetEase games have finally started to be licensed in China

The story of the licensing freeze has finally come to a successful end for Tencent c NetEase. For the first time since last March, Chinese giants have received approval for the release of projects in China.

Rules of Survival — one of the main blockbusters of NetEase last year
TechCrunch writes about this with reference to the data

The State Administration of China for Press, Publications, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).

The latter regularly publishes posts where the titles allowed for publication are indicated. The January 24 article also mentions Tencent games with NetEase.

This is good news for companies and their investors who have previously experienced anxiety.

The fact is that in China they resumed issuing identification numbers back in December. In a month and a half, about 250 games received them. However, until now, there have been no projects of the two main players in the country’s market — Tencent and NetEase.

This situation had a negative impact on the value of the shares of both companies. It was possible to assume that both are in some kind of disgrace.

After the appearance of Tencent and NetEase titles in the list of games approved for publication (NetEase, by the way, was more lucky, SAPPRFT gave the go-ahead for publishing its MMORPG), there was definitely no room for speculation on this topic.

The most important thing is that the unfreezing of the licensing process in the first or second quarter of this year can return positive dynamics to Tencent’s revenue from games (in the third quarter the company had a drop in revenue) and radically increase sales of NetEase, which survived the year relatively painlessly (including due to success in the international market).
