Media: EA canceled the Star Wars game in the open world
The game was developed by the EA Vancouver division.
According to Kotaku, citing three knowledgeable sources, EA has closed the Star Wars project. The reason was the publisher’s desire to release another, “smaller-scale” game of this franchise as soon as possible. According to sources, this could happen at the end of 2020, by the release of a new generation of consoles.
The cancelled game was codenamed Orca. It was based on the developments of the already closed Visceral Games studio. Unlike its fully linear action-adventure game, Orca was supposed to be an open-world game.
Despite the closure of the project, EA Vancouver will continue its activities. Not a single studio employee has been fired, the source claims.
Let’s add that EA has another Star Wars IP title planned — Jedi: Fallen Order. Respawn studio is engaged in it. The game is scheduled to be released in the fall of this year.
