Microsoft is not leaving Russia, but is transferring the Microsoft Store from rubles to dollars
The price tags in rubles have disappeared from the Microsoft Store. Now the purchase of games and applications for PC and Xbox in the store will be made only for dollars.
Since the beginning of November, the prices of some products in the Microsoft Store are calculated in dollars. In the absence of explanations from the company, rumors spread online that Microsoft was allegedly preparing to leave Russia before the November round of US sanctions. However, today the company’s representatives denied these rumors and said that Microsoft will remain committed to Russian customers.
Nevertheless, the company did not explain in detail why the currency was changed in the Microsoft Store, and limited themselves to a statement: “This decision was dictated by the need to develop a business approach.” It is unknown when the currency in the store will finally change for all products.
Note that when transferring prices from rubles to dollars, a vulnerability appeared in the Microsoft Store that allowed Russians to buy games and applications at the rate of $1 for 1 ruble. And dozens of users were able to purchase game hits 65 times cheaper.
Those who want to buy Microsoft products for rubles, the company advises visiting retail retailers — “M.Video”, “Kay”, etc.
