Capcom will move its games to the cloud. She was convinced by the experiment with Resident Evil 7
Capcom will continue to release “cloud versions” of its games. The company considers this direction promising.
In the spring, Capcom ported the Resident Evil 7 horror to the Nintendo Switch with support for broadcasting from the cloud. The company admitted that this port did not bring financial success. But the game managed to achieve success in another way: it interested enough Nintendo Switch owners that Capcom decided to continue experimenting with “cloud versions“.
Which games will be in the “cloud” and when it will happen, she has not yet announced. Her representative clarified for The Wall Street Journal that the company must first conduct a final assessment of the financial and other indicators of Resident Evil 7.
In recent months, other large companies such as EA, Microsoft, Google and Ubisoft have also become interested in cloud streaming. The last two staged a closed testing of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in the Project Stream cloud, after which Ubisoft expressed its readiness to cooperate with other cloud services.
