The installer of the Android version of Fortnite came out with a vulnerability. Google found it

Fortnite remains the most prolific newsmaker. This time, however, with a minus sign. The Android installer of the game, distributed by Epic Games outside Google Play, turned out to be at launch with a major vulnerability.

The Fortnite installer could allow attackers to install any applications on a smartphone without the owner’s knowledge in the background. Applications could also get all possible permissions.

The irony is that the vulnerability was found by Google specialists, who immediately reported it to Epic Games. She solved the problem in 48 hours. After that, according to Android Central, Google made the situation public.

The latter irritated Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games. He thanked the search giant, but immediately noted that the publication of technical details of the vulnerability is an irresponsible step on the part of Google.

According to him, the developer asked Google to postpone the publication for 90 days so that the update could be distributed as widely as possible. However, the company refused.

The vulnerability has been fixed in the installer version 2.1.0 and older.
