Chinese gamers will spend $37.9 billion in 2018

According to Newzoo, the Chinese gaming market has reached a turnover of $37.9 billion. This year, Chinese gamers will spend $10.4 billion more than last year.

Of the 1.4 billion people in China, Newzoo counts 619.5 million people as gamers.

There are more men than women playing on all platforms. The smallest gender gap is observed in consoles.

The paying audience in China is the most active among all the countries in the top 15 in terms of gaming market turnover. 94% of paying players have made in-game purchases in the last six months. More than half of the players buy skins and cosmetic items: 55% of men and 60% of women.

Gaming video content is very popular in China – 68% of all Chinese users watch it.

China also has the world’s largest esports audience. 32% of those who know about this phenomenon regularly watch esports videos. The main esports discipline in the country is MOBA Honor of Kings, aka Arena of Valor.
