In 2017, the turnover of the Indian market was $890 million dollars – less than one percent of the global total. However, experts say with confidence that India will soon become the new eldorado of the gaming industry.

This is evidenced by the growth rate of the market:

  • the country is in the top 5 in the world by the number of app downloads;
  • over the past five years, there have been ten times more gaming companies in the country, now there are 250;
  • big Chinese players have entered the market: Tencent and Alibaba Group;
  • by 2020, the market will definitely overcome the $1 billion bar.;
  • by 2021, Indian Internet users on average will consume five times more content than in 2016 – 7 GB versus 1.4 GB;

Indians prefer adaptations of classic board games popular in the country.

In 2017, the Ludo King game from local developers scored 55 million downloads in India. The game is an online version of the traditional board game ludo, or pachisi.

The most earning games of 2017 in India were mobile versions of poker and another classic card game called Tin Patti.

This year, PvP games with real-time sessions, such as online billiards 8-Ball Pool, are especially popular among Indians.

Indians prefer frituplay games to premium ones, but recently the gap between these models has been narrowing, as many high-quality premium games have appeared on the local Google Play.
