The latest rumors about the gaming platform from Google

Kotaku has gathered rumors around Google and the Yeti streaming platform under development. At the moment, it is known that the company en masse hires experienced developers and actively discusses the prospects of the platform with possible partners.

Recall that the Yeti streaming platform has been in development for more than two years, although Google became interested in streaming itself even earlier – in 2014 it tried to acquire Twitch.

Kotaku sources report that in March, at a developer conference, a Google representative held several meetings with employees of major gaming companies. Yeti was discussed at the meetings. Similar meetings were held at the recent E3.

It is expected that the platform will work like GeForce Now. It will be connected to cloud servers, and players will be able to run the most modern games even on the weakest computers – all the loads will be taken over by computers from the service. One of the sources described it this way: imagine playing The Witcher 3 in the Google Chrome tab.

The platform will also be linked to YouTube and will allow stuck players to quickly launch video recordings from there.

It is not yet known exactly how Google will be able to provide all users with the high quality of communication necessary to play on such a platform. However, if anyone can cope with this task, it is only a company that has servers all over the world. Do not forget about Google Fiber, a project to create a broadband access network infrastructure that is already operating in several American states.

Kotaku also notes that Google has hired Phil Harrison, a former top manager of PlayStation and Xbox, as well as a number of other experienced developers from EA, PlayStation and other top firms.
