What did Sony show at E3?
On June 12, at four in the morning Moscow time, Sony held its presentation of new products as part of E3. The company finally showed the gameplay of two major exclusives for PlayStation 4 — The Last of Us 2 and Death Standing. What else was shown — read in our material.
Sony focused on demonstrating the gameplay of already well-known products. At the same time, there were no announcements at all. The problem is that to call most of the new projects original, despite their very high quality from the point of view of the visual, the tongue does not turn.
The Last of Us Part II
The new Naughty Dog game unexpectedly goes into paraphrase with the latest Tomb Raider. Judging by the video, it is also largely about stealth and killing from the back. That’s just in terms of the presentation of the plot, the intensity of the gameplay and graphics, it’s like games of different generations of consoles. However, considering that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is being made on the basis of the relaunch of the 2013 series, which was released including on the 7th generation consoles – this statement is not far from the truth.
Ghost of Tsushima
The same impression is left by the first gameplay of Ghost of Tsushima, a new Sucker Punch Productions game, which became famous for the Infamous pyro series. An open-world game about the Japanese Middle Ages, contrary to expectations, does not closely resemble Assassin’s Creed. Instead, it feels like you’re watching something from Akira Kurosawa.
Resident Evil 2
One of the three new announcements is a remaster of Resident Evil 2 on the engine of the seventh part of the series. Capcom has been transferring classics to modern technical rails for several years, but for the first time a novelty is being made at the level of AAA novelties. Such attention to the production of the game can be explained by the fact that the remaster of the first part in 2015 became the best-selling title in the history of the company in numbers.
Control
This announcement came out very funny. The novelty is being developed by Remedy, whose previous title — Quantum Break — was exclusive to Microsoft. The nuance is that Control is visually and gameplay easily mistaken for the second part or even an addition to this exclusive. In fact, the Finns are launching a new IP for the first time, which is similar to their previous project at the level of perception to the level of confusion.
Death Stranding
The gameplay of Hideo Kojima’s new game was shown for the first time. And what has been demonstrated, compared to what Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions have shown, so far does not cause any interest or surprise. In the game, the user will have to play the role of a courier and engage in stealth, hiding from unusual enemies. The main thing that still arouses curiosity is an unusual setting.
Marvel’s Spider-Man
In the next six months, this is Sony’s most important project. He’s coming out soon. It has been known about it for a long time and it causes the least questions, while there is a fair expectation. An open-world action movie in which the player assumes the role of Spider-Man. The project is being made by Insomniac Games, which has been creating exclusives for PlayStation since 1996.
Déraciné
The strangest announcement of the presentation. This is an exclusive for PlayStation VR from the authors of Bloodborne — Japanese From Software. The project is an adventure game in which the player assumes the role of a ghost, which is called by one of the students of a boarding school.
