Titanfall project leads go to the creators of Call of Duty

The developer of the online action movie Titanfall studio Respawn Entertainment has a frame leak. Since the beginning of last year, 7 people have left the company to work in the Infinity Ward team, known for the Call of Duty franchise.

The first “defectors” to Infinity Ward were art director Joel Emsli and leading game designer Geoffrey Smith. They left Respawn in February last year.

Emsley and Smith have previously worked at Infinity Ward. Upon his return, Emsley took the post of art director, and Smith became the main designer of the multiplayer.

Lead animator Mark Grigsby has also returned from Respawn to Infinity Ward. Since June last year, he has been listed as the main animator in the Call of Duty creators team.

In addition to the above, an animator, a senior environment artist and two producers left Respawn Entertainment to work at Infinity Ward.

Why are talents leaving Respawn for Infinity Ward?

Employees who have moved from Respawn to Infinity Ward do not publicly talk about the reasons for their decision. The Games Industry publication suggests that the developers could have left Respawn to work on a very successful Call of Duty franchise. The last part of the Call of Duty: WWII series from Sledgehammer Games studio became the best-selling game of last year and earned more than $ 1 billion.

Another version is dissatisfaction with the publishing policy of the Electronic Arts company that owns Respawn, which damaged sales of the first part of Titanfall by releasing the game simultaneously with another large—scale online shooter – Battlefield 1.

It should be noted that Respawn Entertainment was founded in 2010 by Infinity Ward president Jason West and co-founder Vince Zampella, who left the studio after a conflict with its owner— Activision publishing.
