Nintendo President Resigns

President and representative Director of Nintendo Tatsumi Kimishima (Tatsumi Kimishima) announced his imminent retirement. The head of the Japanese company will leave his post on June 28.

According to the Japanese edition of Nikkei, the decision to resign is not related to the quality of Kimishima’s work at Nintendo. He decided to leave on his own, as he believes that the company needs a younger manager.

Tatsumi Kimishima turned 68 on April 21.

He has worked at Nintendo since 2000, starting his career at the company as head of finance at The Pokémon Company.

Kimishima was appointed president and Representative Director of Nintendo in 2015.

The new head of Nintendo will be 46-year-old Suntaro Furukawa, who currently serves on the boards of directors of Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.

In addition, Furukawa is the head of the Corporate Planning Department, the head of the Corporate Analysis and Administration Department, and is also responsible for the global marketing department.
