Finnish startup raised $650 thousand for social games about fashion and style
Finnish studio Polka Dot Studio has received $ 650 thousand of investment to develop mobile games dedicated to women’s fashion and lifestyle. The main part of the amount was contributed by the former top manager of Rovio, the famous “Mighty Eagle” Peter Vesterbacka.
Vesterbaka also joined Polka Dot as an advisor.
Besides him, investors included companies such as Tekes, Nutshell Invest OU, Siena Holding OU, Mavaconsult, Partner Up Finland and others.
The studio’s first game is conceived as a designer of fashionable images with social media functions that will allow you to share your styles with other players, as well as put likes, subscribe to friends, and so on.
The release of the project is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2018.
According to studio representatives, they want to become a leading gaming brand for “fashion-savvy gamers.”
Polka Dot was founded by people from Remedy, Rovio, Digital Chocolate and other studios in 2017.
Fashion-related titles can be profitable: the Covet Fashion design game by the American studio Crowdstar and the publisher Glu Mobile has not dropped below 125th place in the ranking of the highest-grossing App Store apps in the USA for two years.
According to Pocket Gamer, Covet Fashion generates more than $10 million per quarter.
