Rocket League online exceeded 1 million people a day after switching to frituplay
On September 23, the Rocket League football race switched to a frituplein distribution model. Just a day later, online reached a record for the project of 1 million players. The achievement was announced by Corey Davis, one of the heads of the Psyonix studio.
After that, users began to send him screenshots with constantly growing online indicators. As a result, it exceeded 1.1 million simultaneous players.
The transition to frituplay coincided with the release of the new season and the first Rocket League battle pass. In addition, the developers have added weekly and seasonal tests to the game, as well as several cosmetic items.
In July, the total audience of the Psyonix project reached 75 million players. Now you can download Rocket League absolutely for free, and players on PS4 and Nintendo Switch will no longer have to pay for multiplayer.
However, the transition to frituplay has its drawbacks. Rocket League is no longer available to new players on Steam — only current players will be able to continue playing it. Now the project can be downloaded on PC only in the store of Epic Games, which bought Psyonix last year.
