Adjust: the level of advertising fraud in mobile games has increased by more than 170 in a year%

Advertising-based fraud in mobile games is a global problem. According to Adjust, the number of fraud has increased by more than 170% over the year, and fraudsters are increasingly faking organic traffic.From January to August 2020, Adjust analyzed more than 14.3 billion installations worldwide, including the United States, Europe, Latin America and China.

In the period from August 2019 to August 2020, fraudulent activity in gaming applications in the world increased by 172.95%. At the same time, in the United States, this indicator increased by 310.29% over the same period, in the Asia-Pacific region — by 181.2%, and in the EMEA region — by 214.86%.

The Adjust study showed that out of 200 million rejected installations, only a third were paid, and the rest were organic. “The forgery of organic traffic eventually jeopardizes the reliability of data and the results of the activities of marketers,” the company shares.

According to Adjust, fake users and bots remain the most common method of deception.

  • In the USA, the share of such fraud is 68.7% of all fraudulent activity, in the EMEA region — 47%, and in China — 65.6%.SDK spoofing was in second place in terms of prevalence.
