AdColony has reduced 100 people due to the automation of advertising sales

Mobile marketing company AdColony has laid off almost 100 employees due to the introduction of automated (programmatic) advertising sales.

This was reported by Business Insider with reference to internal sources “familiar with the situation” in the company.

The Business Insider publication also says that AdColony is moving from mobile banner ads to rewarded ads.

Before the layoffs, AdColony employed about 755 employees.

AdColony CEO Will Kasso said that his firm should remain flexible and focus on what can bring the greatest effect.

The owner of AdColony, Opera Software, recently informed about a decrease in advertising revenue in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period last year.

This has led to product launch delays, fewer successful new games, and reduced returns from advertising channels.
