Honor of Kings servers could not withstand the influx of players due to new restrictions from the Chinese authorities

Due to the new restrictions, underage Chinese gamers can play online titles for no more than three hours a week. This led to the fact that last weekend the Honor of Kings servers simply could not withstand the influx of users who entered the game at the same time.Honor of Kings

Analyst Daniel Ahmad drew attention to the problem with the servers.

Tencent itself did not name the official cause of the failure.

This probably happened precisely because of the recent restrictions on the playing time of teenagers by the Chinese authorities. Now people under the age of 18 are allowed to enter online games only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 8 and 9 pm.

On Saturday, September 4, minor fans of Honor of Kings just decided to take advantage of a small time window. Gamers wrote about the inability to enter the game on Weibo. They faced the same problems on Sunday.

Thus, Chinese gaming companies will have to adapt to the new restrictions. If earlier the load on the servers was evenly distributed throughout the week, now the main flow of users falls on weekends.

Recall that Tencent announced its own limits for minors in early August — even before the adoption of the new law. In particular, the company stated that it would prohibit persons under the age of 12 from spending money in Honor of Kings..
