Quantic Dream was cleared of all charges of creating a "toxic" atmosphere. The studio has achieved compensation

Quantic Dream has been sued for several years for creating an unhealthy working atmosphere. The studio was accused of racism, sexism and homophobia. However, this month, the developers of Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human finally managed to defend their rights, and the employees who sued were ordered to compensate for material damage. On April 7, the Paris Court of Appeal issued a final decision in the case against Quantic Dream.

The studio announced this in its official blog.

As

a result, the company was cleared of all charges that caused “serious harm to its honor and reputation.” According to the court’s ruling, the plaintiffs will also have to pay the company “substantial compensation.”

The accusations against Quantic Dream first appeared in January 2018, when the French media published three materials with accusations on behalf of former and current employees. According to them, misogyny, racism, sexism, homophobia, overworking, harassment, as well as financial negligence prevailed in the studio.

In the same year, the management and other employees of Quantic Dream denied all charges. However, they were attacked on the Internet by anonymous users posing as studio employees.

Before the final decision, the court sided with Quantic Dream three times. In 2018 and 2019, the Paris Labor Court ruled twice that there was no “toxic” atmosphere in the studio. In September last year, the Court of Appeal also made a similar decision for the first time.

In addition, Quantic Dream faced several inspections at once, including an investigation by the tax Service, the Bureau for Collecting Contributions to the Social Insurance Fund (URSSAF) and the labor inspectorate. Their results showed that the accusations against the studio are not true.

Quantic Dream believes that this lawsuit is the work of a small group of people who “deliberately decided to tarnish the image of the studio and damage its team.”
