Tencent is going to acquire a minority stake in Voodoo
There were rumors about the possible sale of part of the French Voodoo. The Chinese giant Tencent can act as a buyer.
Tencent’s interest in the hyper-casual company was announced today, July 14, by the Chinese publication Sina Technology. According to the publication:
- we can talk about the acquisition of 20-25% of the company for $ 568 million.;
- there is no agreement yet;
- Ubisoft and Zynga are also showing interest in Voodoo.
The fact that some Voodoo shareholders are interested in selling their stake in the company became known back in May. Then Bloomberg wrote about it.
The May publication stated that potential buyers have already received documents about the state of the company. Applications for purchase from them were expected in June. As a result of the transaction, the entire company can be valued at $1.6 billion.
Now the main stake in Voodoo is in the hands of its co-founders Alexander Yazdi and Laurent Ritter. In 2018, they sold a minority stake to one of the divisions of the Goldman Sachs Group.
