2K has fired some of the developers of Mafia III
In the Hangar 13 studio owned by the 2K publishing house, cuts have been made. According to Kotaku, the owners laid off “a significant part” of the workers. The first and so far the only Hangar 13 game remains the Mafia III action adventure.
2K representatives confirmed the layoffs at Hangar 13, noting that “the cuts will not affect the quality of games that are already in development.”
According to Gaming Bolt, at the time Mafia III was released in 2016, Hangar 13 employed about 150 people. The number of people affected by the dismissal is not specified.
After the release, Mafia III received mixed reviews from critics and gamers, which did not prevent the game from selling more than 5 million copies.
