Tencent's gaming revenue Grew 11% in the third quarter
Chinese giant Tencent has published results for the third quarter of the year. In July-September, mobile games performed well. But the PC segment has sunk.

General figures
- Total revenue from Tencent’s entire business, including gaming, was $13.8 billion. This is an increase of 21% in annual terms;
- operating profit fell by 7% to $3.6 billion (according to IFRS).
Gaming business
- Gaming revenue for the quarter reached $4.1 billion. And grew by 11% year-on-year;
- revenue from mobile games increased by a quarter compared to the third quarter of last year. It amounted to $3.4 billion;
- at the same time, revenue from PC games fell by 7%.
Tencent separately mentions the achievements of a number of projects. But the exact numbers are not called anywhere:
- a notable contribution to revenue growth in China was made by Game for Peace (Peacekeeper Elite);
- Honor of Kings (Arena of Valor) supports a “healthy DAU level”. In addition, users of the game are buying more and more “season passes”. Recall that Tencent pinned its hopes on the Season Pass as part of stimulating its gaming business;
- PUBG Mobile has doubled its global MAU in annual terms;
- The publisher’s new strategies and RPGs (without clarification) also contributed to quarterly revenue growth.
We add that Tencent continues to work on promotion in the West. In China, the publisher faces strict state censorship, and this directly affects its income.
