SuperData: sales of digital games in April increased by 23%
Analysts from SuperData summed up the April results of the gaming market: in a month, users spent $9.09 billion on games distributed in numbers. Console games showed the greatest dynamics due to the success of Fortnite and the new God of War.
SALES OF PC GAMES ARE ALMOST NOT GROWING
Compared to the same period in 2017, game sales revenues in April were higher by $1.67 billion. First of all, spending on mobile and console games has increased, while desktop revenues have remained almost at the same level.
The highest-grossing game for personal computers remains the multiplayer League of Legends.
FORTNITE AND GOD OF WAR RECORDS
The jump in console game sales (44%) is due to the excellent results of the leading titles: the Fortnite multiplayer battle royale and the God of War adventure singleplayer action.
Fortnite received a record monthly revenue from sales of additional content among console games. In total, the publishers of the game earned $ 296 million from sales on all platforms in a month — a month earlier their income was $ 223 million.
And a new game in the God of War line, which relaunched the entire series and was released exclusively for PlayStation 4, became the fastest-selling title in the history of exclusive PS4 games.
GTA V ONLINE SALES FELL BY 9%
Revenue from the multiplatform action Grand Theft Auto V with built-in online mode has been falling since the beginning of the year. According to analysts, GTA V Online is losing the competition to the more popular Fortnite players and has not provided users with new meaningful content for a long time.
HONOR OF KINGS REMAINS AT THE TOP OF THE MOBILE TOP
Free-play MOBA Honor of Kings continues to be the highest-grossing mobile game on the market: in April, the game earned $ 185 million, which is $ 14 million higher than in March. And compared to April 2017, sales increased by $36 million.
