Digital and retail sales of Nier: Automata exceeded 2 million copies
The combined sales of digital and physical copies of the action with role-playing elements of Nier: Automata exceeded 2 million copies in six months since the release.
On this occasion, the game’s publisher Square Enix announced the release of the original soundtrack to the game on vinyl records. They can be pre-ordered now, and the first deliveries are expected no earlier than December.
Nier: Automata was developed by the Japanese studio PlatinumGames, which previously created Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising and other titles. The creation of the game was led by the author of the Nier series Yoko Taro.
The founder of PlatinumGames, game designer Hideki Kamiya, later admitted that the Tarot project literally saved the studio and breathed new life into it.
