PUBG sales exceeded the creators' expectations by 33 times
The creator of the survival shooter Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, Brendan Greene, expected to sell no more than 300 thousand copies of the game in the first year after release. But in six months the game has sold more than 10 million copies.
This is 33 times higher than the wildest hopes of Green and his colleagues from the Bluhole studio.
“You know, I certainly believed in my game. But to sell 10 million copies on Steam in 5 months — so far it seems crazy. We ourselves cannot understand how we achieved such success,” Green said.
Recall that at the end of August this year, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds became the most popular game on Steam, and on the first weekend of September, the number of simultaneous online players exceeded 1 million people.
