Sales of role-playing games increased by 50% compared to 2016
Dollar sales of role-playing video games in the first 8 months of 2017 increased by more than 50% compared to the same period in 2016. The growth was provided by a line of strong releases from eastern and Western studios.
Such information is provided by the analytical company NPD Group.
According to the company’s specialist Matt Piscatella, the commercial success of the role-playing genre in 2017 is provided by such games as Horizon: Zero Dawn, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Nier: Automata, Nioh and Persona 5.
In 2016, there were half as many strong role-playing projects: the analyst singled out Dark Souls III, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Final Fantasy XV.
