The composer behind Tomb Raider has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for committing fraud related to Covid loans

Peter Connelly, known for creating music for the Tomb Raider titles The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness, has received a 16-month prison sentence due to fraudulent actions involving a Covid Bounce Back Loan.

The Insolvency Service of the UK reported that Connelly inflated his firm's revenue figures to obtain a second Bounce Back Loan valued at £37,500 in 2020. This occurred a month after acquiring a legitimate loan of £22,000 from another banking institution.

Bounce Back Loans were designed to offer quick financial assistance to businesses during the pandemic, with each business being eligible for just one loan. Connelly misrepresented his company's revenue as £150,000 to secure the additional loan, whereas the Insolvency Service found the actual turnover to be approximately £58,000.

On July 17, Connelly was sentenced at Durham County Court, resulting in a ban from holding a company director position for six years.

Interestingly, he informed the Insolvency Service about a possible project to rework his music for Tomb Raider, which he funded himself, but this was halted by the pandemic. Details of the project remain unknown.

Connelly is addressing his financial obligations through an Individual Voluntary Agreement with the Insolvency Service.

Beyond Tomb Raider, Connelly also contributed to the music of Core Design's Herdy Gerdy, and was involved in the audio design for The Crew and Watch Dogs.
